SR 303 MAJOR ROADWAY REPAIR
MAJOR PROJECT TO RAISE ROADWAY 4'-5' TO REDUCE FLOODING.
Construction area tested anywhere from 60′ to 120′ deep peat deposits.
The construction area included obstacles with wetlands and protection of endangered wildlife.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Excavation, diversion of Tinkers Creek around construction area utilizing water dams.
Installation and removal of normal lightweight material/surcharge remained in place for 2.5 months; lightweight haydite, material installed on final roadway – 11,324 CY; wick drains installed through peat soils to expedite project- 167,594 FT; geogrid aggregate mat installed to reduce differential settlement.
Animals crossings installed to protect wildlife. 87′ X 63′ elyptical culvert installed at Westbowl. Guardrails and paving.
